If there are any of you who check your work email before going back to school, this one’s for you!
Everything you ever want to know about the upcoming ACCESS 2.0 (on-line) assessment can be found here.
Our regional migrant recruiter has found a new home! She is still our recruiter, and can now be reached at [email protected] . Please update your records. Feel free to contact her directly about any potential migrant students you may have.
As you may know, the MELL Conference is not a thing this year. We are being rolled into the state Federal Programs Conference – scheduled to begin September 2016. In the meantime, I am bringing the show to you!
I’m holding an ESL Institute on August 20. Landon Wood, our new MELL Director of Curriculum will be there to let you know about all of his amazing projects, and Shawn Cockrum is coming to update us on what’s new at DESE. I’m bringing in the bilingual admissions counselor at MSU, Pricilla Ayala, to talk about resources for getting our kids into college. Katy Booher is going to show us how to use Readworks with ELs and Merica Clinkenbeard is sharing her adventures in setting up a resource room for classroom teachers and parents. I am going to do as little as possible. I will provide networking time over lunch and some cool prizes that have yet to be determined. Sign up here – seats are limited.
Jo Gusman is coming on November 6th, because you all kept asking for her. We get a full day of her undivided attention.
W-APT trainings will be held in Springfield 8/26 and 9/15. There is nothing new, so this would be for new test administrators.
I am still finalizing Karen Nemeth. She specializes in dual language learners – pre-k to 3rd grade. She be will be with us October 9th. This will be on my learning plan shortly, so mark your calendars.
Stay cool and enjoy these last few precious moments. It’s going to be a great year!
As always, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have,
Claudia
